The letters of the alphabet are known by most beginning students of Numerology to hold meaning through their numeric associations. What many don’t know is that the letters are symbolic ciphers, just like numbers, and they have hidden meanings within their form and images.

For example, H looks like a part of a ladder, Y looks like a fork in the road, C like an open mouth on a cartoon character’s profile.

These special meanings of the letters come into play not only in the study of the name, but are very important in the study of the Transits.

Transits are cycles of time derived from the letters of your name that gives each of them a chance to bring it’s qualities into prominence. Every letter in your name has a chance to express its challenges, lessons and gifts in such a way that you gradually move through them as you grow and evolve. Transits are sometimes called “current energy patterns” which is also an apt description.

So without much ado, let’s start looking into the letters of the alphabet and explore the possibilities of what’s hidden in your name.

A

– Is original, independent, and mentally-oriented like the number “One.” It is a number of leadership, and usually means change or new activity when in Transit. D

E

– Is one of the most energetic of the letter-vibrations, and like the number Five, represents freedom and variety. It is generally inspired and helpful, having an extra “arm” with which it can reach out. It tends toward excess and is attracted to extremes rather than balance. F

– Tends to be somewhat uncertain, and is usually responsible and hard-working. F can be frank, funny and friendly, and is family-oriented. There are a really interesting set of cornerstone words linked to this letter: Fortitude, Faith, Furious, Face, Fantastic, Fervent, Fanatic, Fairy, Foresight, and many other caring and protective terms.

G

– Looks like something blocking the open mouth, indicating secrets or silence. Its outward appearance is outgoing and social, but that belies its true nature. G avoids being vulnerable and tends to be analytical and self-critical; it is usually well intentioned, idealistic, reflective, spiritual and charming. It can bring prosperity during its transit. Some cornerstone words are: Ghost, Gravity, Gain, Gamble, Generous, Gas and God.

In last month’s tarot post we had a look at a powerful feminine archetype: the High Priestess. Your Abundance is at Hand

When the Empress (card number III in the tarot’s major arcana) shows up for you in a reading, it’s time to honor the abundance, relationships and commitments in your life. The Empress is the Queen. She’s the mother of life and the feminine counterpart to her spouse, the Emperor.

The Empress asks us to pay attention to where abundance is showing up so that we can stay in the vibration of appreciation, and thus allow more abundance to flow to us.

Loyalty

The Empress, as the loyal spouse, also invites us to look at where loyalty is an issue in our lives. Is there someone or some thing that you are sticking with through ‘thick and thin’? Is there somewhere in your life where you need to have an ending or parting-of ways? Is your own sense of loyalty to a relationship, career or cause in question? These all fall under the realm of the Empress.

How to interpret

Just like every tarot card, the Empress has a multitude of potential meanings (or perhaps, layers of meaning). So how to interpret what she is representing (Abundance coming your way or it’s opposite: the mindset of lack; loyalty or disloyalty) will depend on your question and which position the card occupies in a spread.

The Pinnacles are periods of time during which a given vibration expresses itself most fully, yet responds to the choices you make. Some authors call them Attainments, because if one’s life is being lived in a positive way, the best qualities of the numeric vibration that defines the Pinnacle will manifest.

Finding the Pinnacles

There are four of them in the life, and they change on the birthday, because they are counted by age rather than the calendar:

The first Pinnacle, or the Pinnacle of Attainment, is calculated by subtracting the Life Path Number (reduced to a single digit) from 36. For instance, if a person has a Life Path of 5, then 36-5 = 31 and will last from birth until the 31st birthday.

The second Pinnacle, or the Pinnacle of Obligation, lasts for 9 years, therefore 31+9 = 40: the second Pinnacle will last until age 40.

The third Pinnacle, called the Pinnacle of Foundation, also lasts for 9 years, which means that it will begin where the second leaves off and continue until the 49th birthday.

The fourth Pinnacle is known as the Pinnacle of Retrospection, and remains in place for the remainder of the life.

Calculating the numerological values of the Pinnacles is also easy. Let’s say our example person was born on August 3rd, 1983.
First, let’s work out the Life Path for practice: (August) 8+3 = 11; 11+1983 = 1994; 1+9+9+4 = 23; 2+3 = 5.

Now on to the Pinnacles –
The first Pinnacle is the sum of the month and day: 8+3 = 11/2
The second Pinnacle is the day plus the year: 3+(1+9+8+3 = 3) = 6
The third Pinnacle is the sum of the first and second, reduced to a single digit: 11+6 = 17; 1+7 = 8
The fourth Pinnacle is the month plus the year: 8+3 = 11/2
Following this method exactly will keep you from missing any Master Numbers.

Interpreting the Pinnacles

The Pinnacles represent high points of power for the vibrations they carry, and can be pleasant or difficult. Most people experience a mixture of the qualities of the dominant vibration, because we tend to be distracted, and accept whatever others have told us is right and good, at the expense of knowing what we truly want from life. We are the product of our choices, and the Pinnacles can help us choose in favor of our own best interests, when they are properly understood.

If the Pinnacle Vibration agrees with the LifePath, the period will run smoothly; there won’t be much difficulty in realizing opportunities that are presented as feedback from one’s actions and efforts.
If a Pinnacle agrees with the Soul Urge, then there will be little or no difficulty in manifesting one’s desires of the heart during its period.
If a Pinnacle agrees with the Expression, then one will find themselves in circumstances that aid them in their aims and goals; it will be a time of support from others and from the world at large.

A Pinnacle may also agree with one of the numbers you are lacking from your name, or a challenge you have not overcome; this might be the reason why you occasionally make choices that aren’t leading you to the best the Pinnacle has to offer.
Most everyone experiences a mixture of the positive and negative attributes of a given vibration during any Pinnacle. The good news is that you can change most of these effects, but the bad news is that the negative aspects are usually the results of mental and emotional habits which may take some effort to break.

Let’s say that someone has an Expression of 8, and 8 is the value of one of the Pinnacles. It may indicate a time during which they become so materialistic that they lose sight of caring for others, making it impossible to attain the most positive aspects of that vibration. But again, this is a matter of choice, although we may not think so. It’s all a matter of choosing to live life based on the positive feelings that let us know we are acting in our own best interests.

It is hard to find an aspect of the Life Path that is more interesting than the Life Challenges. They help the Numerologist understand the Life Path Cycles, as well as the Life Path itself.

The Life Path number is fixed, but is made up of the vibrations of the month, day and year of birth. These three vibrations define the major stages along the Life Path, and help us understand how we change over time.
The Life Challenges are also fixed in that they remain with you throughout life, but that’s not a bad thing. We need to understand that they are not problems; they are aspects of our behavior that are likely to attract trouble to us. It could be said that they are what causes “now why did I do that” moments.

The good news is that they can be overcome. When we do so we adapt to the “high road” that the vibration takes, and we have reclaimed some of the power inherent within us. If we leave them alone, we give that power away.

The Life Path’s 3 vibrations are also used to find the challenges. First we must reduce each of them to a single digit as follows: April 3rd, 1986 = month 4, day 3, and 1+9+8+6 = 24/6. Please remember that the sum of these reduced digits is not the Life Path. We do not reduce the Life Path until the complete numbers have been summed. In this case, 4+3+6 would equal 13/4, but the proper calculation is 4+3+1986 = 1993, 1+9+9+3 = 22/4.

Find the 3 Challenges

The first step in finding the Challenges is to subtract the month and day digits, making sure to subtract the smaller number from the greater. In this case, we have 4 – 3 = 1, the First Minor Challenge. Then we subtract the day and year digits by the same rule, so the Second Minor Challenge is 6 – 3 = 3. Lastly, we perform the same operation on the two Minor Challenges; 3 – 1 = 2, which is the Major Challenge.
Most Numerologists write the numbers out as an inverted triangle as follows:

The Major Challenge will be felt throughout life, the First Minor Challenge harder to overcome during the early life, and the Second Minor Challenge will more in force in later life. In the cases of the minor challenges, the vibrations will persist throughout life, but will be felt more strongly during the 1st and 2nd periods of life respectively.
Understanding the Challenges

1 – The desire to impose one’s will on another must be held in check. Sometimes there may not be enough drive, or sense of individuality.

2 – One may be too dependent on others and follow their lead blindly. There is also a need to learn how to cooperate and follow directions.

3 – This represents a need to socialize and to be more expressive; there will be trouble when one becomes isolated and withdraws.

4 – This challenge works two ways; either the individual needs to apply themselves to work and details, or is overly focused on them.

5 – This person needs to accept change and learn to let go of people and things, and to avoid over-indulgence, especially in sensual activity.

6 – One must learn to accept things and people for their own worth, and to bounce back from disappointments, especially in domestic or love matters.

7 – It’s important for those with this challenge not to isolate and watch the world go by; to develop trust and understanding of others is the goal.

8 – This challenge also has a dual nature; one must avoid being overly focused on material issues like money and power, or focus more on them.

0 – There cannot be a 9 challenge, but there is a 0 challenge; those having it must give attention to all challenges, and not focus on any one.

These challenges need a lot of attention if they are the same vibration as the Life Path or one of its Sub-Cycles. The Major Challenge tends to be more severe, but they all must be given attention under these conditions.

Our subject’s Productive Cycle is vibration 3, and began asserting itself in Personal Year 1, 2010; she announced that she was retiring from acting. In Personal Year 2 she “un-retired”, but in Personal Year 3 she retired again. 2013 began Personal Year 4, but also marks her 27th birthday which makes it the year in which her Productive Cycle swings into full force; it is the same vibration as her Second Minor Challenge. Of all the ways we humans are capable of harming ourselves in our modern world, perhaps the most insidious and epidemic is through the way we ‘talk’ to ourselves when we aren’t paying attention.

The way I see it, negative self-talk is a kind of hidden plague harming way too many people who could otherwise do such GOOD in the world.
 

The Law of Attraction

And how do I know that negative self-talk is rampant? Because I understand the Law of Attraction: that your vibration creates your life experience. And I see way too many good people who have the power to live wonderful lives drowning in stress, worry, poverty and unhappiness.

Now I don’t mean to suggest here that people living in war zones or desperate 3rd world conditions are to blame for their situation. There are indeed, other factors at work globally. These factors make it excruciatingly difficult for some people to escape misery.

What I am suggesting, however, is that those of us with the resources to do so (safe drinking water, shelter, a job, reasonable health … computer access to even read this post!) are more than capable of changing thoughts that stand in the way of greater happiness. Having a crappy life experience? They you’re vibration isn’t in alignment with your true nature as a divine being.

Improve your Thoughts – Improve your Vibration

If your vibration is outta whack, there are a number of things you can do to get it more aligned with your Sacred Nature. And the first of those is to get control of your thoughts! Because when you improve the quality of your thoughts, you will raise your vibration.

Simple, but not easy …

Attention + Responsibility = Uplift

In order to get control of negative self-talk, you’re going to have to start paying attention. You’re going to also have to take responsibility. No two ways about it: you, and only you are responsible for your thoughts. And this is true whether you are paying attention to them or not.

It may not seem fair, but it’s just the way our world works. It goes something like this:

• Thought influences feeling
• Feelings influence vibration
• Vibration attracts manifestation
• Then the cycle continues…

How to Heal your Negative Self-Talk

Here’s one of the best ways I’ve ever found to heal negative self talk. The process is the same as the one I taught you in my last Shadow Knows blog post. Here’s what you do …

Step 1: Listen for negative self-talk of all kinds that runs through your mind.
Step 2: Take 1 week to write down every negative thought on a list.
Step 3: Once you’ve a solid list of negativity written down, go through the list, writing a counter statement next to each negative one. Here’s an example: “You’ll never find a good man” … “Your Nature is love and good, loving men are all around.”
Step 4 (Optional): Make an audio recording of all these new, positive statements. (hint: if you only have a few, read through the list several times.)
Step 5: Listen to this recording every single night for at least 3 months, right as you are going to sleep.
