Requirements for guiding your dog:
(1) The first thing you will require is a shipping crate, it must be of adequate size in order that your pug doesn’t feel any type of difficulty to stand up and turn around.
(2) A "Potty area". This will need to remain the same until your dog is completely trained;.
(3) A "Potty Word or Sign";.
(4) You must offer those snacks that your puppy likes the most.
(5) The next vital thing you will require is a non ammonia cleaner. Choose those which are specially for pets, “No Go” is one such example which you can purchase from pet stores.
(6) A schedule designed to meet your pugs needs;.
(7) Time and patience is the significant thing you will need besides all the above mentioned points.
Ok, we mentioned previously the crate (don't you love that word)
If you can obtain the molded, fiberglass type of crate used when shipping by air that is the most excellent type. This will become your dog's "den" and - believe it or not - he will grow to admire it. Your dog will stay in his crate at all times when you are not paying him your complete attention.
This is really really important. The crate must not be too big. Your pug dog should have enough room to stand up and turn around. If the crate is too large, you will defeat the purpose as your dog will alleviate himself in one end and lie in the other. It is also important to buy a crate divider because it reduces the size of the dog crate's "living" area while house-breaking pug puppies. It lets just enough room for sleeping.
You must have an appropriate schedule for your dog because it helps to meet your dog’s needs. The schedule must be designed by noticing daily the habits of your puppy.
Your pugs can understand his “potty area” if you habitually hold your dog up and carry him to the same place. Take a favorite snack of his with you, it could even be the hot dog.
Accompany your dog and allow him to lead if possible. You absolutely must not play with him. Your dog should learn from the beginning that this is not playtime or walk time, it is "potty time."
When your puppy tries to understand you select a proper word for potty such as "Go Potty!" Train your puppy by uttering the same word just as they pee or poop. After they have heard the word perhaps a few dozen times, you can begin using it to boost them just before they are actually doing their stuff.
Praise your pug puppy when he potties on the designated location. After potty take him inside and give favorite snack to him. It is important to take him outside right after food or playtime. You should repeat this sequence till evening.
I personally don't give food and water after 10:00 p.m. to my dog. This seems to help the pup stay clean throughout the night. At bedtime, move the crate to your bedside. Confirm that your dog is in a draft-free place and has plenty of warm bedding.
(I have found that a cold puppy is soon a "wet" puppy.) Most pups will settle in fairly well if they are near your bed. When the pup wakes up in the morning, he will kick up a fuss to go out. Keep in mind your spot and treats!
